What We Do

What we doHorizon Resource Group is a group purchasing organization (GPO) serving the higher education community. The group purchasing strategy is designed to leverage the national buying power of institutions of higher education in order to drive savings in purchasing and lower overall operating costs. Horizon competitively solicits national contracts on behalf of member institutions in order to affect the lowest prices offered for higher education. All institutions, regardless of size and location, benefit from group purchasing. This strategy is successfully being utilized in other industries, including healthcare. The acknowledged healthcare business model is the foundation for Horizon’s effective GPO design. The executives of Horizon possess an in-depth knowledge of group purchasing, market dynamics of the supplier community, as well as the higher education industry.

Horizon Resource Group member institutions have access to an expanding portfolio of contracted products and services. This portfolio covers both consumable supplies, as well as capital equipment. By becoming a member of Horizon, institutions can experience an immediate reduction in operational costs with very little effort, and virtually no change in day-to-day practices.

Horizon’s greatest strength lies in the breadth of the Contract Portfolio. Horizon competitively solicits for multi-year contracts based on volume, with industry leading suppliers. Extensive RFP, review and award processes are executed for all contracts.

Buying from Horizon contracted suppliers results in real savings to institutions. Horizon has positively impacted hundreds of institutions nationwide.

Membership is free to any institution of higher education. Contact Horizon at 866-531-3053 or at customer.relations@horizonrg.com to begin realizing the benefits of group purchasing.

National IPA

New Partnership with National IPA

National Intergovernmental Purchasing Alliance Company (National IPA) is a cooperative purchasing organization, established through a collaborative effort of public agencies across the United States with the specific purpose of reducing procurement costs by leveraging group volume.

National IPA aggregates purchasing volume of participating agencies in order to receive larger volume discounts from suppliers.  This is an optional use program with no minimum volume requirements. To participate in the program, simply submit a Participation Form.

All master agreements are publicly solicited, awarded through an RFP process, and held by a Principal Procurement Agency. National IPA serves as a nationwide channel to offer the awarded agreements to the following eligible agencies:

  • City/Local Government
  • County Government
  • State Government
  • Public and Private Educational Institutions and Systems
  • Other Public Agencies
  • Healthcare
  • Agencies for Public Benefit
  • Nonprofits

Members of Horizon Resource Group are eligible to utilize the agreements offered through National IPA as a registered participating agency.

More information about National IPA and the expanding contract portfolio may be found at www.nationalipa.org.
